Linear Pricing

Linear Pricing

Linear Pricing

If you wish to use Linear Pricing, then in the Catalog/Drawing properties select the Pricing/Markups page of the Pricing category as shown below.

The lower section allows you to nominate a Linear Metre rate for the various cabinet groups. In the CM-Cabinets library there are three cabinet groups i.e. (1) Floor, (2) Wall, (3) Tall. Bench cabinets are included in the Wall cabinet group.

The rate that you enter in this section is the cost rate. The markup % will then be applied to this rate.

Tutorial

  1. Select Pricing/Markups page of the Pricing category of the Catalog/Drawing properties.
    1. Tick the Linear Metre checkbox (as per diagram above)
    2. Enter Linear Metre Rates as per the following (as per diagram above)
      1. Floor $50.00
      2. Wall  $40.00
      3. Tall   $60.00
  2. In Plan View or List View select a standard FloorTall and Wall cabinet.
    1. Change the Width of each to  1000mm i.e. 1 linear metre

      3. In List View and you will see a list of cabinets placed with ? in the pricing columns.

      4. Click on the Calculate Prices button

As shown below the Cost Price has been calculated accordingly.

Many combinations can be used. For example, your linear metre rate may or may not include costs for the kickboards, doors, or benchtops etc.

Linear Metre Pricing with Alternatives

As with fixed pricing, linear metre pricing can be used in conjunction with other alternatives. For example, the linear price may represent the carcass material and then you price hardware, doors, and the benchtop separately. To achieve this you would need to nominate that you are using Linear Metre rates and then nominate the others i.e. hardware, doors, and benchtops, etc.

Linear Pricing in Materials Manager

In addition to managing and creating materials that are used with the CM-Cabinets library, the Materials Manager holds pricing data.
  1. Select Material/Hardware page of the Pricing category of the Catalog/Drawing properties.
NOTE: After editing, you must click the Refresh button to apply changes.

      2. Within Materials Manager you can either choose to associate a price table, particularly useful for pricing doors, or select one of the following options
    1. Click the Material Manager button to open and select the Pricing tab.
      3. The Linear Price Rate is useful for material such as Edging and as suggested by the name, it is based on a per linear price.

In the example illustrated the cabinet has been setup to use 2mm Edging. The material and price reside within Materials Manager.

Extra Price Per Item is useful if you need to account for a fixed price that is associated to the material. Perhaps it may be hand painting a door.

If you have an extra cost that you want to account for, this cell allows you to enter this additional amount here. This is a per item amount and must be the total amount for this material.

The Additional Mark-up is used to account for sundry costs that are associated with the material.  Perhaps you need to account for a contingency amount. It is important to note that the mark up here should not be confused with the mark up in the Pricing/Markups tab. The later will be applied to the total cost within the Materials Manager.

This is not to be confused with the mark up that is applied to create an end-user price. Here you may choose to nominate a percentage to cover contingency costs for this material.

Extra Notes

1. Linear Price Rate

If you enter a linear amount here, CabMaster will use this rate in conjunction with the calculated linear length of material and create the cost price automatically.
NOTE: This option is not available for the group "Doors".

2. Linear Price Table

      a) Linear price table style - this is used in the linear pricing of Benchtops and is used in conjunction with b)
      b) Treat as linear price table - checkbox in Materials Manager

Advanced Capability

You can combine many of these options to enable you to construct the price.

For example, you may purchase doors from a manufacturer in a raw state and ship these doors to another business who hand paints the doors based on an Area Price Rate. The supplier of the painting services may also charge a fixed amount per door to cover their own contingencies.

In this example, you would:

(a)        tick, i.e. select the option, to Use a Price Table
(b)        create a price table containing the raw door prices
(c)        enter the hand painting rate per square metre into the Area Price Rate field
(d)        enter the fixed amount per door into the Extra Price Per Item field
