This is a summary of each option which will help you decide what is the best pricing method for your business.
For detailed explanations on all of these areas, please see the CM-Cabinets Help topic, as shown below.

Linear Pricing per Cabinet
Linear Metre prices can be entered at three levels. Within CabMaster cabinets, these are grouped as
Floor
,
Wall
, or
Tall
cabinets.
The linear metre price is managed within the
Pricing/Markups
page of the
Pricing
category. The rate that you enter is the
cost
rate. The markup will then be applied to this rate.
Linear metre pricing can be used in conjunction with the Materials Manager (Drawing Properties " Materials-Advanced " Manager) to cater for other alternatives. For example, you can nominate that you are using Linear Metre rates (as shown above) and then nominate materials such as doors, benchtops, etc in Materials Manager as shown below.
If used, this step must be repeated for every Material within every Group within every Type that you wish to apply it to.
NOTES:
· Extra – useful if accounting for fixed prices associated with material, i.e. spray painting.
· Markup – used for sundry costs associated with materials.
Fixed Pricing
Each cabinet within the
Library Catalog Manager
can be set up to contain a fixed cost, which is only available with CabMaster Designer Pro or higher level software.
To activate this pricing method you need to nominate this as your pricing method in the
Pricing/Markups
page of the
Pricing
category in Drawing Properties by ticking the checkbox next to
Fixed Price
.
You can also use a combination of fixed price with component pricing, i.e. Fixed Pricing with alternatives.
Fixed Pricing with Linear Pricing
Allows for the possibility that the cabinet may have its length altered once it is placed on a drawing. A Fixed Cost price can be entered and when viewing the cabinet in the Library Catalog Manager, on the
Fixed Price
page of the
Pricing
category (as shown below), the
Fixed Price
can be set for the first
X
mm then an additional $amount can be added for every additional
Y
mm (or part thereof).
Cost per Material/Item
Area Pricing for Board Materials
Use
Materials Manger
to set up the
Area price per sqm
against all appropriate materials. For example, this could correspond to your suppliers’ price lists.
You can also include an
Additional markup
percentage. For example, a 5% markup can be added to account for the cost of freight.
NOTE: The markup here should not be confused with the markup on the Pricing/Markups page. The markup in the Pricing/Markups page will be applied to the total cost within Materials Manager.
Pricing Tables
If you select the pricing table option, it is important that you select the other options below it in the list. If you do not select the other options, then they will not be priced. Refer Pricing/Markups
illustrated below.
The Pricing Tables looks at the material that has been selected in the cabinet, and then matches this to the price in the Materials Manager.
Pricing Double Rolled Benchtops
To use the Double Edge pricing facility you must:
1. In
Materials Manager
you must create for each row in the
price table
that can be priced as a single or double edge.
2. Switch on using the checkbox on the
Settings
page of the
Pricing
category (as shown below and enter the name of the table row created above e.g. DD-DF-101.
3. On the
Pricing
->
Pricing/Markups
page make sure that the
Benchtops
check box is ticked as shown below to the left.
4. Switch on
Price as Double Roll
on the cabinet as shown below right, on the
Options
page for a Benchtop
or
the
Benchtop
page of a standard cabinet.
Hardware Pricing
This is set up in the
Hardware
(Form or Table) from the
Material/Hardware
page of the
Pricing
category (as shown below).
You can:
- Add the prices, i.e. Cost against the appropriate Hardware items. [Note that the Handles are catered for in a separate table.]
- Choose the hardware associated with a cabinet. This is done on the Hardware page of the Hardware category as shown below right.
- Then select the categories that will be priced through the Pricing/Markups page of the Pricing category.
The
Levels shown give the ability to markup the prices and are percentages (%).
Door Price Groups
This is only available with CabMaster product that allows access to the Library Catalog Manager (CabMaster Designer Pro and higher).
The choice of doors affects the price of the cabinet and, rather than have each door priced on its area, a more simple approach is to group the door prices.
The Price Group feature allows a cabinet in the catalog to have several (
up to 11
) fixed costs. One for when there are no doors and then up to 10 other prices depending on the chosen Door Price Group.
Using this facility each door material can have a
default
Price Group
, which is automatically applied to the drawing. The Price Group for each cabinet uses this default unless otherwise selected. In addition, each cabinet itself has a set of costs, one for each Price Group.
The Door Price Groups facility is only invoked when the Fixed Price option is ticked (as illustrated below) on the
Pricing/Markups
page.
Labour Pricing
There are 4 ways to measure labour cost. Are you going to measure labour based on:
-
The time it takes for each part?
- The time it takes to complete each task at cabinet level?
- A total labour cost per cabinet?
- The material square size of a part?
If you are going to use labour as your method of pricing, you must ensure that you have nominated it from within the Pricing/Markups
page of the
Pricing
category as illustrated below left.
If you are going to base your pricing on labour then on the
Material/Hardware
page
you will work with three databases:
- Labour – Cost
- Labour – Area Rate
- Labour – Part Rate
Other Libraries & Accessories Pricing
This is only available with CabMaster product that allows access to the Library Catalog Manager (CabMaster Designer Pro and higher).
PC Items pricing is managed with the Library Catalog Manager. These items are in a library called the
CM-Accessories
library which can be accessed via the Library dropdown menu as illustrated here:
Also note that the PC Items option on the Pricing/Markups
page of the Pricing category must be ticked for this to be activated.
When you enter the
Library Catalog Manager
you have the ability to create any number of accessories and price them accordingly.
Setting Markups
The Pricing/Markups page is where you can specify different markup percentages for each different category of pricing, such as Hardware, Labour, Panels, Doors, Benchtops, etc.
Each
Category
has a checkbox to the left. When this check box is ticked, the nominated category is active. Multiple categories can be nominated to accommodate a variety of pricing methods.
For example
, you may want to use a fixed priced for your cabinets so that it calculates the carcass price and then add the material costs for doors, benchtops, and kickboards.
Markup Percentages
Retail pricing in CabMaster is handled by markups. The final markups are handled within the
Pricing/Markups
page of the
Pricing
category.
There are four markup levels that can be used in order for you to treat different customer groups with different prices. When you commence a new project, you nominate which markup schedule is to be active.
NOTE: It is recommended that you setup the markup values for all levels, because if you select
Level 1
when you start a project and the markup value is zero, then a zero markup value would be applied to the costs. For example, if you nominate a level and have a markup with a
zero
value, the price that will be quoted will be the accumulated cost price.
Level descriptions can be made more meaningful on the
Markups
page as shown below.
Each category can have up to four different markup levels as shown above. To set the markup amount for each level, simply enter the amount in the space provided and press Tab to move to the next box. Remember that a
zero
value means that the price quoted will be the accumulated cost price.
For example, you may apply a 10% markup in Level 2, as this is the pricing level you might want to use for your builders. Level 4 may be reserved for wholesale customers.
You can nominate a markup level for your customer so that it automatically refers to this table when you start a new project for that customer.
A markup is applied to the combined cost of the category.
So if you have set pricing,
for example, within Materials Manager
then the markup on the Pricing/Markups page will be applied to the total cost within the Materials Manager.
For example, if a cabinet has a fixed price of $200.00 then the markups will be applied to this fixed price.
