Panels as Door and Materials explained

Panel as Door

In CabMaster, when you are setting up the Catalog or the Drawing Properties, we have the choice to select the “Panel as Door”, which is located under the ‘Job Setup’ and in the ‘Materials-Doors’ heading.
NOTE: This position can change slightly depending on which version you are running.
This feature has been included for quite some time, but its primary purpose is to make the Panels be Doors, they take on all the properties of the doors, Edging, Thickness, Profile, and Pricing etc. When drawing a French provincial style kitchen like a Farmers kitchen, it could require the panels to look like the doors, please see the image below.

NOTE: Due to database rules, we cannot use the same ‘name’ for the materials in the materials manager. These materials are configured to use the ‘Raw Material’ in the ‘Mach. General’ under the ‘Const2’ heading. In the Material Manager setup we use the Raw Name to match between a door type material and a panel type. See the image below.

Method 1: Often we need to be able to do a drawing with a Door material and a Panel material that are the same thing. If we report on them or send them out to machining, they are recognized by CabMaster and EzyNest as the same material. Below you can see what the Door Material is selected with, being “18mm Light Grey Door” and the Panel Material as “18mm Light Grey”. Here we see the Doors and the Panels are just flat.

Method 2: When we need to use a Profiled Door with standard Slab Panels, we choose a Doors Material and similar one for the Panels. Below you can see that the Door Material is selected as “18mm Light Grey Profiled Door” and the Panel Material is “18mm Light Grey”. Here we have the Doors with a Profile, and the Panels are just flat.

Method 3: Drawing a French provincial style kitchen can require the Door Profile to appear on the Panels as well. Your Door Material will have to include a Profile or Style. Below you can see that the Door Material is selected as “18mm Light Grey Profiled Door” and the Panel Material is selected as “Panel as Door”. Now we can see the Panels appearing with the same Profile as the Doors.
